Incredible news over this past weekend for our Transport Manager, Sarah O'Brien.
Sarah has been studying a Diploma in Transport & Logistics to further educate herself and develop an even stronger skill set within the industry. Sarah decided to enter a submission for a chance to be awarded a Driving the Difference Scholarship funded by Transport Women Australia Limited and Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific.
Sarah was successful in her submission and was flown to Melbourne to attend the Annual Gala Dinner. This is extremely good news for Sarah as the scholarship will provide funding towards her diploma and encourage her to seek further higher education.
We asked Sarah what her thoughts were about the importance of these awards. Sarah said "the whole concept is amazing, its pleasing to know that there is a foundation there to support all women in the industry. The industry has been a male dominated industry for a very long time and it's rewarding to be recognised as a woman by organisations such as Transport Women Australia and Daimler. We know there is a shortage in the industry, women are here learning to drive trucks, forklifts and hold jobs in operational teams helping towards filling the shortage".
Dionysius Transport are very proud of Sarah and her achievements to date. We would like to thank Transport Women Australia Limited and Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific for this great initiative and the support towards education.
